I have been seeing some blurbs kind of like this one for awhile on professional photographer's sites. With more people having access to better cameras yes they can get a good one here and there but being consistent day in day out, different conditions and subjects makes a huge difference in the experience. I have been in business for 11 years now and just LOVE what I do, yes I use different mediums, shoot film and digital. Film for me is still some of my preferences once I get my images back from the lab:)
You should not compromise when looking for a professional, specially when covering a wedding! It happens once!
". you are not just paying your photographer for one hour shoot time. I put in many hours on every session. This includes preparation, drive time, shooting time, file handling, sorting images, custom editing and post processing of images, uploading , burning cd’s, packaging etc....
.professional equipment is expensive. You have to upgrade more then film based gear. Cameras, lenses, computers, software, hardware, props etc...
These are not one time purchases and have to be replaced, upgraded often...
.Running a legitimate business is costly. There are taxes, accountant fees, bookkeeper fees, assistant fees, office fees, studio fees, permits, internet fees, blog and website fees etc...
.Not all photographer are the same. Many have fancy cameras but not really understand photography or know how to custom edit. Not every photographer is an artist, we are different people, different aesthetics, understanding of light, backgrounds, eye for art, eye for flattering images, experience etc... let’s just say you get what you pay for!" |
